How to use Later

If you're just overwhelmed with the thought of having to post on social media every day to keep your business relevant and engage your customers keep reading.

I used to post every single day. Up until about six months ago I hadn't had a day off in four years. But I found I was burning out (no duh!) and was spending so much time trying to make my personal life and business life work simultaneously, Neither were succeeding.

Sourcing and writing engaging content for social media posts is not some thing you can do while you're cooking dinner getting your kids on the bus, going to practice, or cleaning the house. If you aren't actively engaged in what you are posting, your followers are going to notice. Something that looks good enough to post because you only have 5 minutes to get this done, doesn't look good to the person receiving it. This is why I want to introduce you to my solution. You can have an active social media life without having to remember to post!

Introducing Later

Using a scheduling program like Later, you can curate your feed to look exactly as you want it.

Top Reasons Why I Love Later

  1. You can upload and store as many photos you'd like in the media library and save them until you want to caption and schedule.

  2. You can visually plan and schedule posts for Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest.

  3. You can plan posts on a calendar and Later will automatically publish them for you.

  4. You can get valuable feedback of when to post

  5. You can use linkinbio to get more website links than the single link Instagram lets you use.

Let's dive into these!

You can upload photos you'd like to use to a media library and save them until you want to caption and schedule.

Later is like a photo/video folder for your social media accounts. You can also upload, collect photos from Instagram (mentioned and tagged media) for reposting!

You can use Later on any device! No more having to use your phone to post to social media. You can easily plan out everything in Later and save those photos from your camera roll directly to your Later account to use, you guessed it, LATER!

You can visually plan and schedule posts for Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest.

Later is a great tool for curating your Instagram Feed. How your feed looks as a 'whole' will define how people feel about your brand when they land on your account page. Having too many different types of photography or too many similar post types in a row will create the feeling of 'unorganized' or 'unprofessional' for your viewers. They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but how you curate your photo album says more!

You can plan posts on a calendar and Later will automatically publish them for you.

Later helps you plan your entire week (or month) from your computer so you can schedule posts in advance and forget about them.

Once you have the photos in your media library, you can caption them, give them hashtags, links and even label them into categories.

I like to use categories to help plan my posts. The categories I use are:

  1. Lifestyle

  2. Products

  3. Engagement

You might have other categories to suit your needs, but once you start using them, you can easily spread out the categories over the schedule so you don't have too many of the same type of post in a row! Did you know you can 'reuse' posts? Labelling your posts help you find those product posts you'd like to 'reuse' every once in a while.

If you have a 'personal' account on social, you may not be able to 'auto-publish'. Later has some great tutorials on how to accept push notifications or auto-publish here.

You can get valuable feedback of when to post

Once you have started using Later, the program will start gaining valuable information on your followers and their habits. Do they look at their social accounts when they wake up in the morning? at lunch? after school? after dinner? before bed? Who knows? Later!

Later will start helping you decide when you should post to get the most engagement. You'll see highlighted areas on your calendar where you can drop your post in for the best timing!

You can use linkinbio to get more website links than the single one Instagram lets you use.

Link In What? Yep. linkinbio is just like it sounds... it's a link. In your bio.

The trouble with Instagram accounts? You can only have ONE website link, so even if you want a person to go to a specific page on your account, you can't! Unless you want to constantly change the website address in your profile (pro tip - this gets messy. I don't advise!)

What you can do is create Later's 'linkinbio' It's a special website link for your instagram profile and when you schedule a post in IG, you can add the link you want people to go to! WhaBam! Easy.
